Steven Patrick Hagan
WARSAW — Steven Patrick Hagan, 47, 1319 W. Island View Drive, Warsaw, has been charged with child seduction, a level 6 felony, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a class A misdemeanor, after having sexual intercourse with a female between the ages of 16-18.
He was arrested by Kosciusko County sheriff’s deputies Monday evening, May 23. Charges were filed May 20 in Kosciusko Superior Court 1.
Warsaw Police Officer Ryan M. Moore responded to a call of a runaway female teenager April 16. He learned the teen had left her home the evening before between the hours of 7:30 p.m. and 9:20 p.m. Police were told it was believed the teen was with Hagan, where she had been living. The mother of the teen had removed her from the residence after learning there was a sexual relationship between Hagan and the teen.
A relative of Hagan’s flagged down Warsaw Police Officer Steven Rocky who reported a possible location for the teenager. The relative told police the teen had contacted her by phone begging her to pick her up, as she was hiding in the woods behind Flexaust. However, police, through use of technology, located the teen in a Warsaw motel room with another male individual.
The male was questioned by police, learning Hagan contacted him and told him to pick up the female and keep her with him. Hagan would pick her up the next morning.
Speaking with the teen, police learned she had been communicating with Hagan the entire time she had run away, with a phone he had provided her. Hagan had also arranged for the other male to pick her up from the woods.
Police received permission to download information from the phone. Through that information police found conversations between the teen and Hagan regarding to a physical sexual relationship that occurred while she was living with Hagan and acting as her custodian, including conversations of sexual fondling and sexual intercourse.
The mother told police the teen had began spending a lot of time at the Hagan residence and by January 2016 the teen was living with the Hagan family. The mother also stated the teen told her Hagan was filling in as her father and had given her a job, opened a bank account under both their names. it was found Hagan had signed documents stating he was her custodian. Hagan had never been given written or verbal permission to open the account.
The teen admitted to police, Hagan was her boss at Flexaust and of the sexual contact between the two.
Hagan is being held on $10,000 surety and $250 cash bond.
