Area Accident Reports

Kosciusko

Officers from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accident:

4:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, West CR 1350N, east of North CR 500W, Nappanee. Driver: Tyler A. Rasler, 21, Fox Crest Drive, Nappanee. According to police, Rasler was traveling eastbound on CR 1350N when the vehicle left the roadway, struck a guide wire, slid sideways, overturned and struck a tree while still airborne. Rasler complained of pain and was transported to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment. Damage up to $25,000.

Warsaw

Officers from the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:

8:40 p.m. Sunday, March 25, US 30, west of North CR 150W, Warsaw. Driver: Denis Lopez Rodriguez, 54, Viewpointe Drive, Columbus, Ohio. Rodriguez told police he was driving his vehicle westbound on US 30 when a deer ran into the path of his vehicle. He was unable to avoid hitting the deer. Damage up to $5,000.

7:39 p.m. Sunday, March 25, US 30 and Old Road 30, Warsaw. Drivers: Dominick F. Montange, 27, Levi Lee Road, Warsaw, Julianne Runnells, 54, Superior Avenue, Warsaw. Montange told police he was stopped behind Runnells’ vehicle and saw her vehicle move forward. He took his foot off the brake and his foot got stuck between the pedals. He could not stop his vehicle before it rear-ended Runnells’ vehicle. Damage up to $1,000.

12:17 p.m. Saturday, March 24, North SR 15 and Gilliam Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Donald K. Reinholt, 81, Gilliam Drive, Warsaw, Barbara I. Callahan, 84, Gilliam Drive, Warsaw. Reinholt told police he was stopped at the stop sign at Gilliam Drive and SR 15 and drove his vehicle onto SR 15, striking Callahan’s vehicle, which was turning from SR 15 onto Gilliam Drive. Damage up to $10,000.

1:22 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, East Winona Ave. and South Bronson Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Maria B. Sarber, 82, East Sunrise Circle, Warsaw. Sandy C. Waithira, 33, West Old Road 30, Warsaw. According to police, Waithira was traveling eastbound on East Winona Avenue and drove into the intersection with Bronson Street courtesy of a green traffic light. Sarber told police she was stopped at the interesection and that she had a red flashing light, assuming it was red and flashing for all motorists, she proceeded into the intersection and was struck by Waithira’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.

7:56 a.m. Tuesday, March 20, Leiter Drive, Warsaw. Driver: Mowlid M. Diriye, 36, Glenrose Avenue, Nashville, Tenn. Diriye told police he was backing his semi tractor trailer up to a receiving dock when his side view mirror struck a pole. Damage up to $2,500.
