Kosciusko

Officers from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:

6:35 p.m. Sunday, May 6, East US 30, Pierceton. Driver: Jose R. Meyo, 51, East US 30, Pierceton. Police report that Meyo was driving westbound on East CR 250S at a high rate of speed. Meyo attempted to turn into the rear entrance of Regency Mobile Home Park and hit a tree while turning before leaving the scene. Officers located Meyo and took him to the hospital for a blood draw on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. Damage up to $10,000.

1:36 p.m. Saturday, North CR 650E, south of East CR 200N, Warsaw. Driver: Douglas E. Sawyer, 67, East Prestwick Road, Winona Lake. Sawyer told police he was driving his vehicle southbound on CR 650E when a deer ran into the roadway that he was unable to avoid hitting. Damage up to $10,000.

8:35 p.m. Friday, May 4, North CR 850E, south of East CR 500N, North Webster. Drivers: Sean O. Wilson, 37, North Fox Farm Road, Warsaw. Wilson told police he was driving his vehicle southbound on CR 850E and said he believes he was driving too fast when his vehicle hit a bump in the road, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway. The vehicle spun around, hitting first a tree and then an embankment. Wilson said he was not wearing a seatbelt and that his head struck the windshield. He was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital for treatment. Damage up to $10,000.

Warsaw

Officers from the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:

2:57 a.m. Monday, May 7, West Lake Street, Warsaw. Driver: Robert M. Porter, 21, South CR 25W, Warsaw. Porter told police he was backing up his vehicle in the Wilby’s parking lot and heard a horn from a parked vehicle. He said he did not have enough time to stop before colliding with the parked vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.

4:56 p.m. Sunday, May 6, East Pope Street and South Detroit Street, Warsaw. Driver: Rene C. Cruz, Eisenhower Parkway, Warsaw. Cruz told police he was driving his vehicle on Pope Street and was stopped at the intersection of Pope and Detroit streets when a vehicle driving north on Detroit Street turned right and collided with his vehicle, but kept driving, leaving the scene of the accident. A witness followed the fleeing vehicle driving onto Country Club Road and into the Southtown edition before the witness lost sight of the fleeing vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.

4:24 p.m. Sunday, May 6, East Center Street and Cleveland Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Orianna J. Garcia, 21, North Johnson Street, Warsaw; Christine E. Turskey, 60, Sharon Street, Warsaw; Desiree A. Griepentrog, 34, St. Augustine’s Drive, Warsaw. Garcia told police she was driving her vehicle eastbound on Center Street and entered the intersection of Cleveland Street against a red traffic light, striking first Turskey’s vehicle and then glancing off that collision to strike Griepentrog’s vehicle. Damage up to $50,000.

10:42 p.m. Saturday, May 5, East Patterson Road, Warsaw. Driver: Juliana Cerda, 16, East CR 200N, Warsaw. Police said Cerda was driving her vehicle westbound on Patterson Road, drove off the roadway at a dead end, over the crest of a hill and into a retention pond behind Culver’s restaurant. Cerda was cited for driving without a valid driver’s license. Damage up to $10,000.

2:35 p.m. Saturday, May 5, South SR 15 and East Winona Avenue, Warsaw. Drivers: Shirley A. Cook, 78, West Winona Avenue, Warsaw; James B. Marshall, 42, North Lincoln Park, Warsaw. Cook told police she was driving her vehicle northbound on South Detroit Street and entered an intersection against a red light, intending to turn right. She drove into the path of Marshall’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.

11:12 a.m. Saturday, May 5, Walton Boulevard, Warsaw. Tina Cannon told police she was sitting in her vehicle waiting for her daughter to bring her a motorized cart when a maroon minivan backed into her vehicle and then drove away. She was unable to get a license plate number on the hit-skip vehicle. The minivan was driven by a female driver, Cannon told police. Damage up to $2,500.

6:40 a.m. Saturday, May 5, East Center Street, east of Lincoln Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Amy E. Rice, 44, Roy Street, Winona Lake; Mark J. Falk, 57, West CR 200S, Warsaw; Junior Howard, 77, South CR 600W, Claypool; Lark O. Ruch, 63, West First Street, Milford. Rice told police she was driving her vehicle eastbound on East Center Street and didn’t realize how close she was traveling to Falk’s vehicle. When Falk’s vehicle stopped, she was unable to avoid rear-ending his vehicle, which sent Falk’s vehicle into Howard’s vehicle and Howard’s vehicle into Ruch’s vehicle. Damage up to $50,000.

4:17 p.m. Friday, May 4, SR 25 and South Union Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Eseosa S. Igbinijesu, 21, Kincaide Street, Warsaw; Kelly L. Arney, 38, West Blackberry Trail, Warsaw. Igbinijesu told police she was driving her vehicle southbound on South Union Street and came to a stop at the intersection of South Union Street and West Winona Ave. She told police that she thought the intersection was a four-way stop and proceeded into the intersection, colliding with Arney’s vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.

3:55 p.m. Friday, May 4, East Center Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Anna M. Price, 18, Inverness Point, Warsaw; Gary A. Packer, 66, East Walnut Street, Warsaw. Price told police she was driving her vehicle southbound in the north-south aisle of the Owen’s parking lot and did not see the vehicle driven by Packer in the intersecting aisle. Packer also did not see Price’s vehicle and the two vehicles collided in the parking lot’s intersection. Damage up to $2,500.

Winona Lake

Officers from the Winona Lake Police Department investigated the following accident:

4:39 p.m. Saturday, May 5, Winona Avenue and Argonne Road, Winona Lake. Drivers: Shirley A. Cook, 78, West Winona Avenue, Warsaw; Olivia J. Deeter, 19, Saddlebrook Lane, Warsaw. Witnesses told police that Cook was driving her vehicle eastbound on Winona Avenue and ran a red light. Cook’s vehicle collided with Deeter’s vehicle, which had the green light and right of way. Damage up to $25,000.
