Kosciusko

Officers from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:

12:34 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, West CR 200S, west of South CR 450W, Warsaw. Driver: Kylie A. Rick, 18, Manor Avenue, Elkhart. Rick told police she was driving her vehicle westbound on CR 200S when a deer entered the roadway. She was unable to avoid hitting the deer. Damage up to $5,000.

8:55 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, South SR 25, west of South Bruner Road, Warsaw. Drivers: Marlene R. Shively, 43, Spear Street, Rochester; Sabrina Heiman-Witham, 18, East Broadway Street, Burket. Shively told police she was driving her vehicle southbound on SR 25 when a car approaching her vehicle was about four feet over the center line. She said she swerved to avoid the oncoming vehicle and instead collided with Heiman-Witham’s vehicle, which was along the roadway disabled due to a flat tire. Heiman-Witham complained of back and neck pain and was transported to Woodlawn Hospital in Rochester by Mentone EMS. Damage up to $25,000.

5:11 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, West Section Street, north of South Highbee Street, Milford. Drivers: Matthew Wood-Wilson, 23, East Van Buren Street, Leesburg; Paul K. Wolfe, 71, Wheeling Park, Fairmount. Wood-Wilson told police he was driving his vehicle southbound on Highbee Street and wasn’t paying attention to the vehicle in front of him, driven by Wolfe. Wood-Wilson’s vehicle collided with the rear of Wolfe’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.

3:10 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, West CR 1350N, east of Ashbury Court, Nappanee. Driver: David A. Rasler, 52, Fox Crest Drive, Nappanee. Rasler told police he was driving his vehicle eastbound on CR 1350N and became distracted when he took a bite of a hot sandwich, which burned his mouth. His vehicle left the roadway and struck two mail boxes. Damage up to $5,000.

Syracuse

Officers from the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:

4:49 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, South Huntington Street, south of East Palm Drive, Syracuse. Drivers: Wendy L. Dimmick, 29, North CR 750E, Syracuse; Jacob T. Reiff, 24, East Palm Drive, Syracuse. Dimmick told police she was pulling out of the McDonalds parking lot and did not see the motorcycle driven by Reiff. Reiff laid the motorcycle down to avoid the collision. Damage up to $5,000.

Warsaw

Officers from the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accident:

11:15 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, South Tamarack Street, north of East Market Street, Warsaw. Driver: Jesus R. Sanchez, 89, North CR 100E, Warsaw. Sanchez told police he was backing his vehicle out of a driveway on South Tamarack Street and did not see a parked car. Damage up to $2,500.

Winona Lake

Officers from the Winona Lake Police Department investigated the following accident:

11:49 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, Kings Highway, east of School Street, Winona Lake. Drivers: Richard R. Dunnuck, 59, West CR 150S, Warsaw; Christopher Silvestre, 20, Wildwood Lane, Winona Lake. Police reported that Dunnuck was driving his vehicle eastbound on Kings Highway when the back left tire came off his vehicle and entered the westbound lane, colliding with Silvestre’s vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
