WARSAW — A North Webster resident has been arrested on several charges relating to methamphetamine.

Cody William Obacz, 22, 310 E. Madison St., North Webster, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony; possession of two or more chemical reagents or precursors with intent to manufacture a controlled substance, a level 6 felony; and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor.

On Feb. 15, Officer Samuel Weaver of the Warsaw Police Department conducted a traffic stop. He noticed the passenger matched Obacz’s description. Obacz had a warrant for his arrest through Elkhart County for possession of marijuana.

Weaver identified Obacz and arrested him on the warrant. The vehicle was towed and officers conducted an inventory search, discovering several syringes, including one filled with a liquid; a box of pseudoephedrine; a pill container and a plastic bag, both containing a white, powdery residue; lithium batteries; and metal spoons with a burned residue on them.

The powder tested positive for methamphetamine. Officers spoke with the driver, who admitted to driving Obacz to Warsaw to purchase pseudoephedrine and other items used to make meth. She also admitted to injecting heroin and told officers there were syringes in the vehicle. She then admitted to using a false identity to purchase pseudoephedrine.

Officers transported Obacz to the Kosciusko County Jail and discovered a glass pipe with a burned residue.

Obacz is being held on a $5,000 surety and $250 cash bond and on a $500 bond.
