Joseph Wiggins

Joseph Wiggins, 32, 212 S. First St., Pierceton, is charged with possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony, possession of a syringe, a level 6 felony and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor.

According to the probably cause affidavit, Wiggins reported a drug overdose of a woman to the fire department near his residence. Pierceton police asked Wiggins for permission to search his apartment and when he refused, Pierceton police asked for assistance from the Warsaw Police Department. According to the report, Warsaw police then interviewed Wiggins who told police he did not know that drug use was the cause of the woman’s health issues.

The officer then interviewed another resident of Wiggins’ apartment who said Wiggins and the woman had gone to the bathroom in the apartment for approximately 20 minutes and when they came out, Wiggins was carrying the woman and then began to perform CPR before leaving to report the incident to the nearby fire department.

Warsaw police requested and obtained a search warrant for Wiggins’ apartment and found a spoon with residue in it, a syringe and a bag of methamphetamine. When the officer returned to the two men and advised them of their rights, Wiggins told the officer that the other man did not possess any of the items. Wiggins also told police he attempted to hide the items before police arrived.
